I’m going to South America in 5 days, and in keeping with that theme, there are a few songs I’d like to share with everyone.
First of all, I’ll be spending Easter week this year in Copacabana, Río de Janeiro, so obviously this song is on a loop in my head:
Barry Manilow, ‘Copacabana’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMHp9a5FwrI
Secondly, as I’ll be spending a week (at least) in Río, this song has made a recent appearance in my head:
Duran Duran, ‘Rio’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XovoAKVOPOM (about 1 min 7seconds in, that’s where it starts to get good).
Thirdly, I’ll be spending a big chunk of time (5 weeks minimum) in Argentina, so immediately Evita pops into my head:
I think Nicole Scherzinger’s version is the best I can find…Evita, ‘Don’t cry for me Argentina’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivOrKizry94
Deviating slightly off-course, this song is Latin-American related (though not related to this specific trip):
The Four Tops, ‘Loco in Acapulco’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weGiFoK4JeI (Acapulco is in Mexico, for anyone who doesn’t already know that)
One more, because it’s Spanish and I can’t resist, get up and dance to this one, it doesn’t matter if you’ve never heard it before, it’s ace! King Africa ‘Bomba’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDKK_utXU3E
And the final song, a song I love so much, about a place I spent a very nice long six months, a place I didn’t really want to leave. It’s also one of the few places I’ve since been back to visit, and although the song is about losing your heart to someone in a place, to me, and possibly the friends I spent the lovely six months there with, it is a place that I lost my heart to- Heidelberg:
Andre Rieu and Mirusia Louwerse ‘Ich hab’ mein Herz in Heidelberg verloren’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrN1jm9aLq0
